Scuderie del Quirinale. From March 20 through August 31, 2014

The Scuderie del Quirinale is to host a magnificent exhibition on the life and work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954), a symbol of the artistic avant-garde and of the exuberance of Mexican culture in the 20th century.

The exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome, running from 20 March to 31 August 2014, explores the art of Frida Kahlo and her ties with the artistic movements of her time, from Mexican Modernism to international Surrealism, analysing their influence on her work.

There can be no doubt that the legend which has grown up around the life and work of Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) has now reached global proportions; the unquestioned icon of 20th century Mexican culture and the seductive subject of a Hollywood movie, Frida Kahlo’s contribution to contemporary culture comprises one of the most inextricable tangles of art and life of the whole of the 20th century.
